You’re feeling frustrated with the way your life is going but you're not sure why.  You’re having a hard time finding your voice to express your needs and may even feel guilty when trying to stand up for yourself.  You long for quality relationships and a deeper understanding of yourself but you’re not sure where to begin.  You might even be wondering if your upbringing or your past is impacting your view of yourself and your current relationships.  If this resonates with you, I’m here to help!

Our journey through life is complicated, full of ups and downs, and it can be challenging and isolating to understand our experiences. In a world of social media and instant gratification, attempting to process life’s difficulties on our own can bring up feelings of frustration, comparison, shame, or loneliness.  It can tug at old wounds and resurface pain that you may not be sure how to manage.  You may start to recognize a difference between the life you had hoped for and the one you find yourself living.

Whether you are facing anxiety, have relationship concerns, are navigating pregnancy, infertility, or motherhood, have experienced spiritual abuse, or want to work through old wounds that make you feel stuck, I want to walk with you. Together, we can look at your experiences with mercy and care, create awareness of the belief systems that may be holding you back, and move forward defining a new truth to provide you with the freedom and peace you’ve been seeking.

Walking with you on your journey is a privilege.  When I was little, I was intrigued by science and wanted to understand how to bring relief to illness and pain; so much so that I grew up believing I would be a doctor.  It wasn’t until college that I realized my desire was not necessarily in attending to physical needs, but emotional ones.  I understood in a whole new way that people live with invisible pain every day and relief can be found when it is shared.  I found joy in settling into conversations with others, listening to the experiences life brought on, and seeing the impact of sitting with someone could have. These experiences with others taught me the importance of listening, the value of empathy, and the healing that comes from being known.

Whatever pain you can’t get rid of,
make it your creative offering.

I obtained my Bachelor's in Biology with a minor in Psychology from Texas A&M University and graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary with a Master of Arts in Counseling.  In my years of practice, I have developed specialties in working with adolescents, women, and families.  I specialize in working with individuals experiencing depression and anxiety, complex trauma, relationship concerns (pre/post-marital), family-of-origin concerns, and self-esteem issues like shame, unworthiness, and codependency.

I have a passion for maternal mental health and have advanced training in perinatal and postpartum mood and anxiety disorders (Perinatal Mental Health Certification). I specialize in treating the concerns of women across the lifespan including perinatal, postpartum mood and anxiety, neonatal loss, birth trauma, grief, reproductive issues (infertility, high risk pregnancies), and parenting. I enjoy working with new mothers who are navigating making sense of their new identity, those struggling with newfound expectations and adjustments, and women processing unexpected diagnoses such as reproductive issues and congenital disorders.

Additionally, I work with clients seeking to build a deeper understanding of their spiritual identity. I enjoy helping clients examine the dynamics of their faith, as well as walking alongside those who have had painful experiences with a church or religious organization. Spiritual abuse can occur in subtle or explicit ways and often times, it can be challenging to validate our own emotions when those around us seem to be having a positive experience. I hope to provide you an environment to explore your thoughts and feelings without being judged.

I also enjoy working with adolescents and their families through the teen’s experience of depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, social concerns, and managing school stressors. Being a teenager comes with a lot of life transitions and I enjoy working with teens who are trying to build a better understanding of their merging responsibilities and identity. I am passionate about working with teenagers who have felt as if they have had to grow up too fast due to different life experiences, like loss or divorce. My goal is to be an advocate and provide support for teens as they navigate the different stressors in their life.

I believe healing is a process where a safe space, empathy, and insight can provide the opportunity to better know and understand ourselves.  This is what I want to provide to you.  I consider it a privilege to walk with you on your journey in becoming more of the person you hope to become.

You are not alone in the struggles you face!  Every person has a unique set of strengths, stories, and capabilities that are woven together.  If you are ready to explore your stories, build awareness of the pain that is holding you back, and move forward to a life characterized by more freedom, contact me today. I am here to help.
