You feel stuck living in the tension of beauty and pain, unsure how to keep moving.  You find yourself searching for clarity and peace, yet straddling uncertainty and ambiguity.  Days are long, perhaps feeling purposeless, and just one more hit or one more drink keeps you going. You’ve lost connection with those you love and you feel unsure of who you are becoming.  You’re angry, sad, and spent.  Calling it quits, running, and hiding sounds like the best idea yet.

In the beauty and in the pain, you are not alone.  Life is beautiful and life is hard, challenging, exhausting, and overwhelming. Storms of life hit and they hurt, leaving you feeling wounded, angry, and isolated.  No matter the storm you may be facing – trauma, addiction, familial stress, loneliness, depression, anxiety – you are not alone.

I seek to provide space and peace for you to find rest, so that you can brave the challenges of everyday life.  Whether journeying with you through substance usage, anxiety, depression, family-of-origin issues, or life transitions, I am honored to be entrusted with your story.  My hope is for you to gain greater confidence to learn how to better belong and relate to both yourself and to those with whom you’re in relationship.

Life meanders like a path through the woods. We have seasons when we flourish and seasons when the leaves fall from us, revealing our bare bones. Given time, they grow again.
— Katherine May

Prior to becoming a counselor, I pursued various jobs working at local and international nonprofit organizations.  My husband and I lived in Southeast Asia for several years and through the relationships we built, we immersed ourselves into a culture very different from our own.  My time working both overseas and locally in Dallas grew in me a deep appreciation for others’ worldviews, however unique and different from my own.  Walking with family and friends through suffering and shame in both Asia and in Texas motivated me to pursue a vocation in counseling.

I attended The University of Texas at Austin and received a Bachelor’s in History.  After my time living abroad, I pursued a graduate degree at Messiah University and received a Master’s of Arts in Counseling.  I have a wide range of experiences, having worked in both a private practice setting and an inpatient adolescent facility for substance abuse and addiction.

I deeply value both the intimacy of being known and the role we play in a greater context. Through a Family System's lens, I explore attachment styles as a means to understand your perception of self and others, and I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help you regain stability and control in your life. I enjoy working with adolescent and adult men and women who are struggling with anxiety, depression, or substance use as they navigate challenges and transitions in life.  Additionally, I enjoy working with individuals and families to help foster and define “self” in order to grow in deeper connection with those they love.

Whether you are a young adult, an adolescent, or a family seeking support, I am eager to meet you where you are.  Having navigated many storms in life and journeyed with others through their own, I am prepared to sit in the pain, darkness, and loneliness with you.  I seek to provide you a safe and peaceful place to heal, as together we move into the greater fullness that life has to offer.

While I am a Christian, I welcome individuals from all belief systems and walks of life.  I will create a space for you that is accepting and non-judgmental, welcoming you exactly as you are and helping you reach your goals, incorporating whatever faith beliefs you hold.

Life’s storms are hard and are not to be weathered alone.  If you are ready to begin your healing journey towards deeper, more meaningful connection and belonging, reach out today.  I’m here for you.
