You’re feeling overwhelmed by all that life is throwing at you.  You’re finding yourself listening to that voice in your head telling you that you’re not good enough, you’ll never measure up, and that your past and present struggles define you.  Everything feels hard and making decisions feels paralyzing.  At times, it feels like these anxious thoughts will never go away and life’s stressors will never stop.  If this is you, I want to help!

The unique journeys we walk can be challenging, and sometimes it’s hard to see the path forward.  Everywhere we turn, we hear messages that bring up feelings of inferiority, loneliness, and shame, and we’re left feeling stuck.  We think that we “should” be in a different stage by now or the “next big thing” will make it all better.  It can be hard to trust ourselves and we compensate by either depending on others to tell us who we are, or building up walls to keep people out.

Whether you’re navigating your teenage years or young adulthood, you are surrounded by transitions and relationships that can bring about hurt from past experiences and previous decisions.  The weight of your past feels unshakeable and a way forward, out of this pain, feels impossible.

It can feel debilitating when anxiety or depression seem to have taken over and you just want the fog to lift, but don’t know where to start. I understand! I want to help you clear the fog in your life, whether that be from trauma, pain from unhealthy past relationships, hurtful negative thoughts, or invalidating messages you’ve received, and help you see a clear path. Together, we can help you feel confident walking forward by identifying areas that bring you joy and discovering the values and beliefs that ground your true sense of self.

Helping to navigate a path of healing and freedom with you is an honor. Before becoming a therapist, I worked in the child welfare system and in a hospital setting with individuals diagnosed with chronic illness.  In both roles I got to listen to people’s stories, hear the struggles they have overcome, and celebrate milestones with them.  Among all my responsibilities, getting the opportunity to support others in their time of need was what brought me the most joy.  With that insight, I chose to become a counselor where I could continue helping others as they wrestled with the hurt they carried and worked to find answers to the big questions in life.

I obtained my Bachelor’s in Social Work from Texas Tech University and later obtained a Master of Science in Social Work from The University of Texas at Arlington.  Throughout my time in private practice, I have developed specialties working with individuals with anxiety and depression related to trauma, family-of-origin concerns, chronic illness, deep-seated negative beliefs, and self-esteem issues like shame, unworthiness, and codependency.  I am EMDR trained and combine traditional talk therapy with EMDR, tailored to my clients’ needs.

Courage doesn’t mean we’re not afraid anymore, it just means our actions aren’t controlled by our doubts.
— Bob Goff

Getting the opportunity to help others was the driving force in my pursuit of social work, and then moving into a therapeutic role, and I want to be there for you.  I’m hopeful and excited to get to know you, understand what you’re facing, and help you take steps forward on your journey.   Together, we will work towards a future where you know your worth, experience freedom from the pain you carry, and have a greater understanding of yourself.

While I am a Christian counselor, I work with individuals from all backgrounds and belief systems.  I value creating a safe and welcoming space for you to experience growth and healing, honoring who you are and where you’re coming from.

If you are ready for the fog to clear, to work through the painful thoughts, and heal from the wounds of the past, contact me today.  I’m here to help!
